#22 Warhawks Top Lawson 3-1 on Sophomore Night
Decatur, AL – No. 22 nationally-ranked Calhoun volleyball closed out their home regular season in style on Sophomore Night, earning a 3–1 win over Lawson State (23–25, 26–24, 25–7, 25–19) on Wednesday, October 23.
Lawson State opened the night with an early edge, taking the first set before Calhoun responded with three straight dominant frames to seal the match. The victory keeps the Warhawks atop the ACCC standings, solidifying their position as the conference's No. 1 team heading into postseason play.
Calhoun's offense was led by Laney Kelley, who tallied a team-best 17 kills while hitting .448 and adding three blocks. Kelley continues to pace the ACCC in hitting percentage and currently ranks fifth nationally in that category. Shelby Hill and Ava Boyll each contributed nine kills, while setter Maddie Schwabe orchestrated the offense with 25 assists, 12 digs, and an ace. Amber Holshouser added 24 assists and a .750 hitting percentage, while Lucy Means led the defensive effort with 24 digs and five service aces.
The match also served as a celebration of Calhoun's 2025 sophomore class, recognizing 11 student-athletes and three team managers for their commitment and contributions to the Warhawks' success.

Sophomore Managers:
Head coach Jamiee Freeman praised her team's performance and leadership, saying, "This group of sophomores has set the standard for what Calhoun Volleyball represents, hard work, heart, and excellence. They've helped elevate this program into one of the premier teams in the country. Tonight was about celebrating them, and it was great to see our team respond the way they did after a tough first set."
With the regular season now complete, Calhoun (25-3) turns their attention to the ACCC Tournament, where the Warhawks will look to defend their top conference standing in Montgomery.
