Cooper Strikes First Goal for Men's Soccer
Decatur, AL – Calhoun men's soccer showed continued progress on Thursday night but came up just short in a 2-1 loss to Enterprise State at Jack Allen Recreation Complex. The Warhawks netted their first official goal of the season as freshman Jamari Cooper scored in the second half.
Enterprise State struck early, capitalizing on Calhoun's slow start to build a 2-0 lead in the opening minutes. The Warhawks regrouped after halftime, settling into their style of play and creating several quality chances. Their breakthrough came when Cooper pounced on a rebound and buried his shot to cut the deficit in half.
Calhoun pushed hard for an equalizer in the closing stages, generating opportunities but unable to find the finishing touch.
"I'm happy with the way we played in the second half and proud to see us starting to score goals," said Head Coach Felix Obilo. "There's definitely progress, and I believe positive results will come soon."
The Warhawks (0-5) return to action on Sunday, September 21, at 3 p.m. when they host Southern Crescent at Jack Allen Recreation Complex.
