Daugherty, Tucker Appointed to NJCAA National Committees
CHARLOTTE, NC – Calhoun Director of Athletics AJ Daugherty and Athletics Coordinator Griffin Tucker have been appointed to National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Sport Committees for the 2026-27 academic year, the organization recently announced.
The appointments were made by the NJCAA Board of Regents leadership as part of the organization's selection of committee members across 44 national committees. National committees play a critical role in the administration of NJCAA championships by conducting weekly national ranking calls, assisting with postseason at-large and seeding selections, and participating in the selection of All-America teams.
Daugherty, who currently serves as the NJCAA Region 22/Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Chair for Division I Softball, was appointed to the NJCAA Division I Softball National Committee.
Tucker, who serves as the NJCAA Region 22/ACCC Chair for Men's and Women's Soccer, was appointed to the NJCAA Division II Women's Soccer National Committee.
The selections mark a historic milestone for Calhoun Athletics, as Daugherty and Tucker become the first Calhoun administrators in the modern era to earn appointments to NJCAA National Committees. Tucker also becomes the youngest NJCAA national committee member in the country.
"Being selected to serve on an NJCAA National Committee is both an honor and a responsibility," said Daugherty. "These committees help shape championships, recognize student-athlete achievement, and ensure fairness across the country. We're proud to represent Calhoun, Region 22, and the ACCC at the national level while continuing to advocate for opportunities that benefit our student-athletes."
The appointments also provide Calhoun with increased representation at the national level, creating opportunities to elevate the visibility of Warhawk Athletics while strengthening the presence of the ACCC within the NJCAA. Through their committee service, Daugherty and Tucker will collaborate with athletic administrators from across the country on decisions that impact national rankings, championship selection processes, and postseason recognition.
Their appointments further highlight Calhoun's growing leadership presence within the NJCAA and reinforce the department's commitment to advancing opportunities for student-athletes both on and off the field.
