Bradford Earns Low Medalist, Warhawks Finish 3rd at Enterprise
Enterprise, AL – Calhoun men's golf turned in a strong team performance Monday and Tuesday at the Enterprise State Spring Series, finishing third in a tightly contested three-round event at The Bridges at Tartan Pines.
The Warhawks posted a team score of +55, finishing just four strokes behind tournament champion Shelton State (+51) and one stroke behind runner-up Coastal Alabama North (+54). Calhoun remained firmly in contention throughout the event and entered the final holes with a chance to claim the title, but was unable to close the gap down the stretch.
Calhoun's success was driven by outstanding individual performances across the lineup. In a field of nearly 80 golfers, every Warhawk finished inside the top 34, including two top-10 finishes and the tournament's individual champion.
Freshman AJ Bradford led the way with a Low Medalist performance, finishing at +5 for the tournament. Bradford showed consistency across all three rounds, opening with a +1 before following with rounds of +3 and +1 to hold onto the top spot from start to finish. His performance earned him ACCC Player of the Week honors.
Jesse Kilgore also delivered a strong showing, finishing seventh overall with a +11 tournament score. Kilgore highlighted his week with an eagle in the final round on the par-5 ninth hole, helping keep the Warhawks in contention late into the event.
Sammy Holmes and Jackson Yeager each turned in solid performances, finishing tied for 24th, while Jayce Hutchens rounded out the team scoring with a 34th-place finish. Reece Hardiman, competing as an individual, added another strong result for Calhoun with a 15th-place finish.
Head coach Richard Morgan credited his team's resilience in challenging conditions and praised his freshman's standout performance. "We battled some tough wind and elements out there, and I'm really proud of how the guys competed," Morgan said. "AJ put together an outstanding tournament and stayed steady from start to finish. As a group, we put ourselves in position to win, which is what you want. Now it's about finishing the job when we get that opportunity again."
Calhoun will now turn their attention to hosting the Calhoun Spring Classic on March 30–31 at Burningtree Country Club in Decatur.
