Women's Golf Finishes 7th in Lake City
Lake City, FL – Calhoun women's golf opened their spring season Monday and Tuesday at the Florida Gateway College Lady Timberwolves Spring Invitational, competing at Quail Heights Country Club in ideal early-season conditions.
The Warhawks teed off under sunny skies and comfortable temperatures, with 72-degree weather on Monday and 75 degrees on Tuesday providing a picturesque backdrop to begin the 36-hole event.
Freshman Sadie Graham led the way for Calhoun, finishing 14th individually in a field of more than 50 golfers. Graham carded an 86 in Monday's opening round and followed with an 84 on Tuesday to close the tournament strong.
Emma Thomas, Anna Lowry, and Kenley Staats rounded out the lineup for the Warhawks, who finished seventh overall in the team standings in their first competition of the season.
Head Coach Richard Morgan was encouraged by the opening performance and the opportunity to compete outdoors after the offseason. "It was great to get out here in some beautiful weather and finally get our legs under us for the season," Morgan said. "We've had some setbacks with injuries this fall and lost a few girls, but I'm really proud of the group we brought this weekend. There's a lot to build on, and we're excited to keep progressing throughout the spring."
Calhoun will return to action at the Snead State Invitational at Azalea City Golf Course in Mobile, AL, on February 23–24.
