Men's Golf Competes in Melbourne, FL
Melbourne, FL – Calhoun men's golf gave themselves a challenge against one of the toughest fields of the spring on Monday and Tuesday, competing in the Titan Invitational at Suntree Country Club, hosted by Eastern Florida State College.
Facing a loaded field that included four four-year institutions and several of the nation's top-ranked junior college programs, the Warhawks battled through 54 holes on a demanding championship course and finished 12th overall in the team standings.
Freshman AJ Bradford led the way for Calhoun, posting a three-round total of +13 to finish 19th individually in a field of more than 80 competitors. Bradford stayed steady throughout the event and was joined by Reece Hardiman with a strong second round, as both golfers carded 73s in round two. Hardiman completed the tournament at +20.
Jesse Kilgore, Jayce Hutchens, and Sammy Holmes rounded out the lineup for the Warhawks, gaining valuable experience against elite competition as Calhoun continued to measure itself early in the spring slate.
Head coach Richard Morgan emphasized growth coming out of the event. "We struggled at times to really find our rhythm this week, but there's a lot we can take from this tournament," Morgan said. "Playing against this level of competition shows us exactly where we need to be better. I saw plenty of things we can learn from and build on as we keep moving forward."
The Warhawks will return to action at the Coastal Invitational on Monday, February 26 and Tuesday, February 17.
