Schwabe Named NJCAA All-American
Charlotte, NC — Calhoun volleyball made program history on Tuesday as sophomore setter Maddie Schwabe (Jacksonville, AL/Pleasant Valley) was named a 2025 NJCAA Division II Second Team All-American, becoming the first All-American in Calhoun Volleyball history.
Schwabe's honor comes as the final highlight of one of the most impactful two-year careers ever played at Calhoun. Across her sophomore and freshman seasons, she helped lead the Warhawks to a 57–18 (76%) record, a run that included the program's first-ever national tournament appearance, its first NJCAA Gulf South District, Alabama Community College Conference and Region 22 championships, and the college's first conference title in 25 years.
On the court, Schwabe was the engine of Calhoun's offense. She finished her career with 1,635 assists, directing one of the most balanced and efficient attacks in the Region. Her consistency and leadership earned her a long list of postseason honors, including:
-
2024 ACCC Championship First Team
-
2025 ACCC All-Tournament Team
-
2025 ACCC Championship First Team
-
2025 ACCC North Setter of the Year
-
2025 ACCC North First Team
-
2025 Region 22 First Team
-
2025 NJCAA Division II Second Team All-American
Schwabe is Calhoun's first All-American since the 2023–24 season (women's basketball) and the first volleyball All-American in school history, solidifying her legacy as a foundational piece of the program's rise.
Head Coach Jamiee Freeman reflected on the significance of the honor: "I am just so proud of Maddie. She embodies everything it means to be an All-American, and for her to be our first one couldn't be more fitting. She's helped define what Calhoun Volleyball is becoming and has taken this program to another level. Watching her grow on and off the court has been incredible, and I can't wait to see her continue competing at a high level in her next step. She's a great teammate, she has tremendous character, and she knows how to lead. I am so proud and so happy for her."
Schwabe leaves Calhoun as one of the most decorated players in program history, and as a standard-setter for the future of Warhawk volleyball.
