Turnovers Prove Costly for Warhawks at Snead State
Boaz, AL – Calhoun Men's Basketball fell on the road Thursday night, dropping a 110-83 contest at Snead State. The Warhawks struggled to find early rhythm on either end, falling behind quickly and heading into halftime trailing 55-20. Snead State knocked down 11 three-pointers in the first half, while Calhoun's offense never found its footing, committing 21 turnovers before the break.
The second half told a different story. Powell's squad regrouped, played with better pace, and began attacking the basket with confidence. The Warhawks outscored the Parsons 63-55 in the final twenty minutes, moving the ball more effectively and getting strong production from multiple players. However, the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Carson Muse led Calhoun with 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting, while Jordan Johnson followed closely with 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Jeremiah Police added 15 points, including two three-pointers, and Tahir Bond contributed six points and six rebounds off the bench.
Head Coach Derrick Powell was direct in assessing the performance. "We didn't show up the way we needed to in that first half, and we know that," Powell said. "That's not the standard of how we compete or who we want to be. I'm proud of how our guys responded and kept fighting. We played a much better offensive second half, but we still couldn't get enough stops defensively. We've got a lot of work to do this week, and we'll get back to it."
Calhoun (2-2) will travel to Itawamba on Thursday, November 13, with tipoff set for 7 p.m.
