Balanced Attack Lifts Warhawks over Bears, 77-71
Jasper, AL – Calhoun men's basketball picked up a hard-fought 77–71 road victory over Bevill State on Tuesday night, using balanced scoring and defensive intensity to get back in the win column.
The Warhawks depth proved to be key, with 11 players contributing to the scoring effort. Sophomore guard Jordan Johnson led a steady backcourt performance with 10 points and four rebounds, while forward Carson Muse added nine points on efficient shooting from beyond the arc. Inside, freshman Jeremiah Police made his presence felt with eight rebounds, five steals, and six points, helping Calhoun control the paint and disrupt Bevill's rhythm.
Masiah Robinson guided the offense with seven points and five assists, and controlling the tempo throughout the contest. Powell was also able to rely on his reserevs, while off the bench, Tahir Bond provided an energetic boost, tallying nine points and five rebounds, and Sayiid Allen added five points and six rebounds to round out a balanced attack.
Head Coach Derrick Powell praised his team's collective effort following the win. "This was a tough, physical road game, and I'm proud of how we showed up and competed," Powell said. "We're still learning and growing, but you can see the chemistry building with every game. Effort wins like this show the kind of toughness we want to be known for."
Calhoun (2-1) will look to build on their momentum when they travel to Snead State on Thursday, November 6. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
