#23 Volleyball Sweeps Gadsden State
Decatur, AL – No. 23 nationally-ranked Calhoun volleyball delivered a dominant performance on Monday, October 13, sweeping Gadsden State 3–0 (25–10, 26–24, 25–19) inside Kelley Gymnasium to avenge their September road loss.
The Warhawks set the tone early with a commanding first set and held off a strong push from Gadsden in the second, showing poise down the stretch to secure the sweep. Calhoun's offense was relentless all night, led by Laney Kelley, who hit over .600 in the match. Kelley continues to shine on the national stage, currently leading the ACCC in hitting percentage and ranking third in the country with a mark of .429.
Avery Boyd and Ava Boyll each posted double-digit kills, while Amber Holshouser and Maddie Schwabe tallied double-digit assists to keep the attack balanced and efficient. Defensively, Lucy Means anchored the back row with double-digit digs, maintaining her spot at fourth in the conference in total digs.
Head Coach Jamiee Freeman praised the team's effort to respond after their previous meeting with the Cardinals. "This was a great way to get a win over a team we slipped up against on the road," Freeman said. "I'm glad we got another chance at them, and our group made the most of it from start to finish."
The No. 23 Warhawks (21-3) return to action on Wednesday, October 15, hitting the road to face Bevill State (12–15) at 5 p.m.
