Flag Football Crushes Patriots, Roberson Named ACCC Player of the Week
Decatur, AL – Calhoun flag football picked up a pair of dominant home wins over Northwest Shoals on Sunday, October 12, improving their momentum late in the season.
In Game 1, Calhoun rolled to a 33–7 victory behind a standout performance from Faith Roberson, who rushed for 94 yards and three touchdowns. Roberson also went 11-for-25 passing for 75 yards, while Leah Haynes added two scores, with one on a two-yard run and another on a 35-yard strike from Roberson.
The defense played a key role, totaling 13 tackles. Leah Haynes led the way with five, while Kaitlyn Lane added two sacks, and Reiley Williamson came up with an interception to stall a Northwest drive.
Calhoun kept its momentum going in Game 2, blanking Northwest Shoals 25–0. The Warhawk defense locked in, tallying 16 tackles and another interception by Williamson, her second of the day.
Offensively, Faith Roberson completed 12 of 17 passes for 63 yards and a touchdown to Leah Haynes, while also adding 44 rushing yards and another score on a ten-yard run. Charity Buchanan also chipped in a 14-yard rushing touchdown to cap the scoring.
On Monday, the Alabama Community College Conference announced Quarterback Faith Roberson as the conference Flag Football Player of the Week for her performance.
Head Coach Bart Stephenson praised the team's energy and execution throughout the day. "I was really proud of how our group came out and set the tone early," Stephenson said. "Both sides of the ball played with confidence, and it showed in the way we finished both games. This was the kind of complete performance we've been working toward, and it gives us great momentum heading into next weekend."
The Warhawks (9-3) now turn their attention to a road trip to Montgomery, where they'll face Shelton State (6-2) and Bishop State (2-5) this Sunday.
