#24 Warhawks Sweep Southern Union, Improve to 20-3
Wadley, AL — Nationally ranked No. 24 Calhoun volleyball picked up a quick and dominant 3-0 win at Southern Union State Community College on Thursday, October 9, taking set scores of 25-14, 25-22, and 25-11.
Calhoun controlled the pace from start to finish, hitting .324 as a team and limiting Southern Union's offensive chances. Alana Allison led the way with nine kills and a .500 hitting percentage, while Laney Kelley added eight kills at an impressive .889 clip. Ava Boyll was also strong at the net with 11 kills and 12 total points. Setter Maddie Schwabe dished out 24 assists and added three aces, while Ashley Holshouser chipped in four aces from the service line.
Head Coach Jamiee Freeman said, "This was a great road win for us. We stayed focused, executed our game plan, and took care of business the way we needed to. Our mindset is always to go 1-0 each time out, and now we're looking forward to being back home Monday."
Calhoun (20-3) will return home Monday, October 13, for a 5:30 p.m. match against Gadsden State (14-12). The Warhawks will look to avenge their 3-1 loss to the Cardinals in Gadsden on September 10.
