Men's Soccer Comes Up Short at Northeast Alabama
Rainsville, AL – Calhoun men's soccer opened strong but couldn't maintain momentum in a 3–1 road loss to Northeast Alabama on October 7.
The Warhawks struck first when Randy Cortes found the back of the net early, giving Calhoun the 1–0 lead. Northeast Alabama responded quickly, leveling the match before adding another just before halftime to take a 2–1 advantage into the break.
Calhoun came out energized in the second half, controlling possession and creating multiple scoring chances, but couldn't convert. Northeast capitalized on a late opportunity to extend the lead to 3–1, sealing the match despite the Warhawks' pressure.
Head Coach Felix Obilo praised his team's response after halftime. "That second half was the best I've seen from this group," Obilo said. "The guys understand that as a first-year program, they're laying the foundation for the future. That level of effort and intensity is exactly what we need to build on going forward."
Calhoun (1–9) will return to action on October 11, traveling to Enterprise State for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
