Women's Soccer Explodes for 14 Goals in Historic First Win
Huntsville, AL – Warhawk Women's Soccer earned their first ever victory Sunday afternoon, rolling past Oakwood University 14-0 on the road. The Warhawks put together a dominant performance on both sides of the ball to secure the milestone win in the program's inaugural season.
Calhoun started fast, building a 4-0 lead by halftime before exploding for 10 more goals in the second half. The Warhawks tallied 26 total shots, with seven different players finding the back of the net, while the defense held Oakwood to just two shots the entire match.
Yoshari Chavez and Macy Gatica each recorded hat tricks to lead the attack. Nina Brown, Madigyn King, and Reagan Black all added two goals apiece, while Jackye Delgado and Reese Bilyeu each scored once to cap the offensive onslaught.
"This is a special moment for our program and for our players," said Head Coach Andrew McCartney. "The energy, teamwork, and belief they showed today is something we can keep building on moving forward."
Calhoun (1-5) will look to carry the momentum into next weekend when the Warhawks travel to take on UT Southern's JV squad on Sunday, September 28, at 1 p.m.
