Women's Soccer Drops Home Debut to Southern Union
Decatur, AL – Calhoun Women's Soccer made their home debut Friday evening, falling 5-0 to Southern Union. The visiting Bison struck early and often in the first half, building a 4-0 lead by halftime.
The Warhawks regrouped after the break and turned in a much stronger second-half performance. Several role players stepped up with high-energy efforts, helping Calhoun compete more effectively while limiting Southern Union to just one goal in the final 45 minutes.
"This team showed a lot of fight in the second half," said Head Coach Andrew McCartney. "We're learning a lot about ourselves through these first few games, and getting some key players rested and healthy will be important as we prepare for the 9th."
Calhoun will be back home at Jack Allen Recreation Complex on Tuesday, September 9, when the Warhawks host Itawamba Community College. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
