Men's Soccer Falls to UT Southern JV in Inaugural Match
Pulaski, TN - The Calhoun Men's Soccer Program made history Monday night, taking the field for the first-ever men's soccer match in school history. The Warhawks traveled to UT Southern to face the Firehawks JV squad, ultimately falling 1-0.
UT Southern struck early, finding the back of the net in the fifth minute to grab the early lead. From there, Calhoun settled in and created numerous chances throughout the match, applying pressure and pushing forward in search of the equalizer. Despite several strong opportunities, the Warhawks were unable to break through, leaving the narrow one-goal margin standing at the final whistle.
Head Coach Felix Obilo expressed pride in his team's historic debut. "I couldn't be more proud of this group for how they handled our first game. We started a little slow, but after that the guys really settled in and showed what they're capable of. We created some great chances and showed a lot of promise moving forward. This is a strong foundation to build on," he said.
The Warhawks will now turn their focus to their home opener on Wednesday, September 3 at 6 p.m. when they welcome Copiah-Lincoln Community College to Jack Allen Recreation Complex.
