Jamya Griffin and Carson Muse were honored for their seasons by the ACCC
The Calhoun Community College basketball teams saw individual honors given to a pair of players during the ACCC Basketball Tournament at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, with Jamya Griffin from the women's team, and Carson Muse of the men's team selected to the postseason All-ACCC Teams.
Griffin, a freshman guard, was given First Team honors after leading the Warhwaks in scoring at 15.8 points per game, finishing the year with 474 total points, registering a season-high 29 points in a win over Snead State back in December. Griffin also averaged nearly five rebounds per game, to go with just under two steals per game on the defensive end. Griffin's efforts helped the women's team to the No. 3 seed at the ACCC Tournament, where the Warhawks advanced to the semifinals for the third consecutive year.
Muse, a 6-foot-6 freshman from Trinity, was rewarded for his season with Second Team honors, leadin the Warhawks in scoring, rebounding, and assists. For the year, Muse averaged 13.1 points per game, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists, while shooting over 34-percent on 3-point attempts. He eclipsed the 20-point mark six times, including a season-high 27 against Bishop State on February 20. Muse's season helped the Warhawks make the ACCC Tournament for the first time since the team's return three seasons ago, reaching the quarterfinals.
